Fun, Practical Ways to Make the Most of Unemployment

In order to write a book that as many readers as possible can relate to, we need to collect interesting, inspiring, or just plain funny stories from those who have experienced unemployment and survived! We are collecting responses to the following questions. Please be as specific as possible. We appreciate any and all of your thoughts and insights on this project. In addition, please forward this request broadly to anyone who might be interested in sharing their experiences. You can submit your story by filling out this form or email us at search4sanity@hotmail.com

Fields with * are required:

Name:* Age:
Email:* City:

How did/do you use your time while unemployed? Think of some interesting/funny stories/ideas that helped you keep sane/happy in between the interviews and rejection letters. Some possible categories (feel free to add new categories!):*

Something you've always wanted to do, but didn't have the time
A new hobby
Assistance to family, friends, and community
Travel
Interim job
Etc.

What do you regret NOT doing during your time out of work? (i.e., If I ONLY Knew I Was Going to Be Unemployed THIS Long, I Would Have…)

Did you notice that you went through different emotional stages in your job search such as hope in the beginning and depression later on? Or were you depressed from the start? Can you describe them?

How do/did you answer the dreaded question, "So, what do you do?" while jobless?

What do you think a book on this topic must address?

Please note that we will consider ALL submissions for inclusion in the book. Inclusion will depend on many factors, not the least of which is how the story fits into our framework. Please know that we will read (and enjoy!) all submissions. Not being included should not be considered a reflection of the merit of your story. Everyone'e story is important! We may, in fact, include some stories on the website that do not make it into the book. Come back later to see if your story is here!

One final note: We will use the utmost care in maintaining the anonymity of all submitters, if requested. When you submit, please mention that you would like us to use a pseudonym in the book and on the website. Thanks!
